In the period from April 13 to 20, representatives of the International Scientific and Technical University named after academician Yury Bugai had the opportunity to participate in a working training visit as part of the Ukrainian delegation to the Republic of Estonia at the invitation of the Council on Education and Youth Affairs (HARNO).

The visit is taking place in the cities of Tallinn, Tartu and Haapsalu as part of the project of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Estonian Council for Education and Youth Affairs "Stairway to Perfection: Strengthening the Effective and Reliable System of Higher Education in Ukraine".

The delegation from the International Scientific and Technical University named after academician Yury Bugai included Rector Veronika Khudoley and First Vice-Rector, Professor of the Department of Management, Marketing and Public Administration Oksana Karpenko.

The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the system of higher education in Estonia, the results of reforms, the system of administration of higher education institutions and the organization of educational processes in Estonian universities, in particular, the study of best practices in the organization of distance courses. During the training visit, the attention of the participants was focused on:

  • studying the experience of implementing electronic learning (online) and evaluating the quality of e-courses in Estonian universities;
  • discussion of current educational and scientific issues and challenges related to the long-term Russian aggression against Ukraine;
  • exchange of knowledge and experience with representatives of authorities and universities of the Republic of Estonia.

The members of the Ukrainian delegation met with representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Estonia, the Council for Education and Youth Affairs (HARNO), the Estonian Agency for the Quality of Education, the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV), various universities and other specialists of the educational environment of Estonia.

During the business trip, the delegation had the opportunity to once again see the constant support of Ukraine from the Republic of Estonia, primarily in matters of building an effective and reliable system of higher education.

It is worth reminding that last year ISTU representatives were also among the participants of the Ukrainian delegation within the framework of this project, actively participated in online webinars and seminars during 2023. Since then, the International Scientific and Technical University named after academician Yuriy Bugai has been using the best practices and experience, in particular, regarding the implementation of electronic (online) training and the creation of e-courses. The university introduced the methodology, creation tools, evaluation system and certification of e-courses of the institution's teachers.

In addition, Oksana Karpenko presented the e-course "Innovative entrepreneurship and development of startup projects", which is taught at ISTU as part of the YEP (Entrepreneurial University) initiative. Experts from the Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) evaluated the e-course and provided advice for improvement.

ISTU appreciates such initiatives, which provide an opportunity to use this chance to increase the international authority of Ukraine and ensure its national interests. This helps to inform foreign partners and friends of Ukraine about the development, in particular, of the educational and scientific policy of Ukraine.

It was also a great opportunity to discuss the prospects for further expansion of Ukrainian-Estonian cooperation.

We express deep respect and sincere gratitude to the Republic of Estonia for the unlimited support of the Ukrainian people in the conditions of prolonged Russian aggression!
