On May 23-24, 2023, Academician Yury Bugai International Scientific and Technical University held an international scientific and practical conference for its 30th anniversary "Sustainability of education and science in conditions of transformation" ("Sustainability of education and science in the context of transformation").
During these 30 years, the ISTU team gained a lot of experience, went through a rather thorny, but interesting path of formation during the period of radical systemic transformations in the educational and scientific sphere of the country. As the rector noted Khudoley Veronika Yuriivna in his solemn speech in honor of the opening of the discussion platform: "These years were full of hard and creative work, some failures, heavy losses, many successes and significant achievements."
Today, we can say with confidence that the university has taken place, has an extensive structure, which includes 4 institutes and 3 professional colleges, and has authority in the national and international academic community. And also many agents of influence, which are our successful graduates in various sectors of the economy, state authorities, and politics. All this became possible thanks to the coordinated, selfless and professional work of the University staff, which continues to create the history of ISTU today.
The discussion platform, launched in honor of the 30th anniversary of the University, brought together leading figures of education and science from domestic and foreign institutions. At the plenary session, they spoke with a welcome speech Hryshina Yulia Mykolayivna - Doctor of Law, Professor, People's Deputy of Ukraine 9th convocation, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Higher Education Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science and Innovation, Maria Mykolaivna Ionova – People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 7th, 8th and 9th convocations, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, Vice-President of the International Democratic Union and co-founder of the Ukrainian Women's Congress and Skarlet Sergey Mykolayovych - doctor of economic sciences, professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, first vice-rector of the National University "Chernihiv Polytechnic", Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine (term of office December 2020 - March 2023).
Each speaker's speech was full of useful and meaningful information, and the celebration of the event - ISTU's 30th anniversary - filled the entire meeting with a special atmosphere, excitement, warmth and greetings.
At the scientific and practical conference, important and topical issues of today were raised, the discussion of which is extremely important. At the plenary session, speakers from Ukraine, Sweden, Spain, Estonia, Italy, and Moldova announced the following messages:
- Academic countermeasures against hybrid threats as an important tool for ensuring the national stability of Ukraine;
- Sustainability of Ukrainian science in conditions of external challenges;
- Ukrainian education in the war and post-war period: psychological factors and economic consequences;
- Rethinking the role of universities for deep transformation;
- Universities in the conditions of the development of the ecological crisis: challenges, expectations, solutions;
- Effectiveness in education and research in the conditions of globalization and integration into the European space;
- Sustainability of higher education in Sweden and the EU;
- Promoting research and excellence in national education systems: the Italian practice.
In the delivered reports, European experience was presented and certain important principles of increasing the level of sustainability of education and science of Ukraine in conditions of significant turbulence were formulated.
The management of ISTU, the Organizational and Program Committees of the conference would like to express their sincere gratitude to all our partners for their active participation in the conference, to all the speakers for their relevant reports and sincere congratulations on the occasion of the anniversary of the university, to all those involved in the organization and holding of the conference.
We had the opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the university and hold this conference thanks to the titanic efforts of our defenders, accordingly, the university management decided that all funds received from the participants of the conference as an organizational contribution will be transferred to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
