inJanuary 25, 2023

We continue to follow the updates of the working meeting in Estonia.

Yesterday - January 24 - members of the Ukrainian delegation headed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Zakharin visited Tallinn University. In 2005, a decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia united several Tallinn universities and institutes into a single institution, which led to the establishment of a modern state institution.

The team learned more about the foreign experience of large-scale structural reforms carried out in the institution in recent years. Tallinn University pays a lot of attention to the new career model for teachers, which supports a smoother integration of teaching and research activities. This helped to better understand the issue of the institution's management structure and the aspect of the integration of teachers into the "teaching-research" model.

Instead, the participants told the rector of the university, Tyn Viik, about the main challenges that the Ukrainian sphere of education and science faces due to the full-scale invasion, and ways to solve them.

Estonia does a lot to support Ukraine in most spheres of activity, in particular in matters of science and education. All Estonian universities canceled tuition fees, one of the two Ukrainian schools for forcibly displaced students was opened in the building of Tallinn University. In addition, Tallinn University's powerful student body has opened a charity fund to support the living expenses of Ukrainian students. This repeatedly demonstrates the confident and sincere position of the European country in the matter of supporting the courageous Ukrainian society during a full-scale invasion.

Together with all members of the delegation, Veronika Yuriyivna expressed her sincere gratitude to her Estonian colleagues for their active support of the education and science spheres of Ukraine, pointed out the importance of such international communication and emphasized the continuation of Ukrainian-Estonian cooperation.
