The first day of the working trip of representatives of Academician Yury Bugai International Scientific and Technical University to Estonia as part of the project "Stairway to Perfection: Strengthening the Effective and Reliable System of Higher Education in Ukraine" has passed.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, who heads the Ukrainian delegation, Serhiy Zakharin, together with ISTU Rector Veronika Hudoley, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Development Stanislav Kukhtyk, rectors and vice-rectors of other Ukrainian universities and specialists of the Ministry of Education and Culture, have already managed to meet with the Deputy General the secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia, Renno Weinthal, as well as Maryana Betsa, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia.

The representatives discussed several important points in the field of education and science. In particular:

  • The current level and state of Ukrainian education as a result of martial law;
  • Assistance of the Estonian government and educational institutions for displaced Ukrainian schoolchildren and students;
  • Conditions for organizing the educational process during a full-scale invasion, regular air raids and other daily challenges;
  • Urgent needs of the scientific and educational sphere (in Ukraine in particular);
  • Initiation of further active cooperation in the "Ukraine-Estonia" cluster for continued development and improvement of the international level of education and science in higher education institutions;

The first day of the foreign meeting was fruitful and revealing for our partners. After all, every time we demonstrate our confidence and strength in the fight. In the future, ISTU representatives and delegations are expected to have working meetings at leading universities in Estonia, including: Tallinn University, Tallinn University of Technology, University of Tartu (and Narva College of the University of Tartu). The team is also planning a visit to the Academy of Sciences and Estonian EdTech companies.
